The Ferriere Valley

The Ferriere Valley

Starting from Piazza Duomo in Amalfi, we will first walk through the historic alleys of the ancient Maritime Republic and then a steep staircase, used by the Amalfitans since the Middle Ages to escape the Saracen invasions.

Along the Rio Canneto we will cross the valley in a truly evocative setting, admiring waterfalls, streams and the ruins of the ancient paper mills that produced the “Amalfi paper” still used today.

We will then reach the Valle delle Ferriere Nature Reserve created for the preservation of the giant fern “Woodwardia Radicans” whose origins date back to the pre-ice age.

After the guided tour of the Reserve we will walk back towards Amalfi with the possibility of stopping at one of the farmhouses along the way for a tasting of local products, strictly in season, or for a refreshing “IGP” lemon sorbet.
